Delhi City Guide

About Delhi:

Welcome to Delhi, the capital of India and a vibrant blend of old and new. Imagine two cities rolled into one: New Delhi, designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker, and Old Delhi, founded by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1639. This bustling metropolis is a cultural melting pot where history, food, and traditions collide at every corner.

Delhi has been the power seat for centuries, from the mighty Mughals to the British Raj. New Delhi's leafy avenues and grand government buildings stand in stark contrast to Old Delhi's chaotic markets and narrow, bustling streets.

Where to Stay:

  • North Delhi: Dive into history in North Delhi, home to Old Delhi's vibrant neighborhoods like Delhi Gate and Kashmere Gate. Paharganj is your go-to for budget stays, with discount hotels galore. For a touch of luxury, the iconic Maidens Hotel awaits amidst clubs, hospitals, and the Old Delhi Railway Station.

  • Central Delhi: In the heart of the action, Central Delhi boasts Connaught Place, Lodhi Gardens, and politically significant spots like Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate. Luxury hotels here are perfect for those who love being in the midst of it all.

  • Karol Bagh: Shopaholics, rejoice! Karol Bagh is an old-school shopping haven. Stay in one of its diverse hotels and shop till you drop in this eternally busy enclave.

  • South Delhi: Live the high life in posh South Delhi, home to upscale neighborhoods like Vasant Kunj and Greater Kailash. Enjoy leafy parks, broad promenades, and famous monuments like Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb.

  • Gurgaon: For business travelers, Gurgaon is the place to be. This rapidly developing area within the National Capital Region (NCR) hosts many IT and BPO companies, along with a range of luxury and business hotels.
